Lambretta Clothing Co took on Teddy Smith (UK) in the British Courts recently in a case based on the design of a red white and blue retro-vintage article of clothing claiming an infringement of artistic copyright – and lost.

The Lambretta logo is very distinctive and features in the designs and the red, white and blue target motif features very strongly in Lambretta gear.

However, this may have been more to do with the Madchester connection rather representing a move away from the traditional musical associations you would expect from Lambretta. In 2005 they were involved in presenting “40 years of modernism” where The Mods and The Paul Weller Council performed and band introductions were by Rick Buckler (of The Jam) – very much reverting to type.
